Hmmm, maybe you just didnīt get the site - howīs your German by the way...?
The link you followed is part of a site owned by my wife and me. She is a psychologer
(they`re even worse than lawyers, but thatīs another story), and she is specialised in
caring for transsexual / transgendered people. We did create a gender-team, consisting of my wife,
me and a medical doctor. Itīs new over here, but thoese teams do exist already in the US.
There are folks (and I myself was surprised how many of them we found), that do have severe problems with
their gender identity. So they let my wife find out wether they are transsexuals or not and if so, they may decide
to change their sex by a number of operations and change their civil status on a legal base (thatīs where I come in).
Those people also do have alot of other legal problems, as you can imagine.
Not too long ago I thought they wre just a bunch of more or less harmless weirdos, and I can asure you they are. But most of
them are just suffering and really kind and shy and often sensitive people. And they just need somebody caring for their legal
problems too.
See, people keep asking me why I do the legal things for those harmless types, who are just some poor chaps actually.
When I was younger, I was into criminal law cases. One of my cases was a guy who tried to kill a young girl 15 years of age. While the caes was
at the court, it was found out he was a rapist too who already had left several victims behind him. Noboby ever asked me why I was defending this
really criminal asshole, au contraire I was admired for being a tough lawyer...
Pretty weird, eh?
I just pointed to the site because the guy here who started it semmed to be surprised that his cable trees were more interesting than he being homosexual.
You`re not missing out on something here, neigther do I.
We donīt need to understand everything. This weekend there is a meeting of "Transidentitas e.V.", a society of/for transgendered people here in Frankfurt.
I`ve been there today giving a lecture about legal problems of transsexuals. Many of the people attending were just looking odd and I wouldnīt want to be one
of them frankly. But they do have a right to live as they like as long as they donīt harm anybody else. Thatīs part of my work and it makes me feel better than
defending rapists or other real criminals.
